Gerald Mansour, Sr. was born in Flint, Michigan in 1929, son of immigrants. He worked in the family grocery until he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War, came home and returned to the family business at which time he helped to build a new grocery chain of five super markets called Mansour Super Markets.

Eventually, Gerald and his brother, George, left the family business to start Mansour Developments, which initially started as a grocery company then evolved into an equipment distributor for General Electric and Westinghouse laundry and dry cleaning equipment. The primary focus of that company was to build new laundry and dry cleaning stores in Michigan, which were then sold to owner/operators.

Because of his experience and expertise in land acquisition and development from that venture, Gerald expanded his knowledge of  seeking out commercial real estate development opportunities in the area. Since that time, Mansour Developments has been involved as primary developer of commercial and upscale residential properties where they would acquire the site, design, build and operate, which included several upscale office parks, a Holiday Inn rated one of the top 10 hotels worldwide, and a Marriott Inn. They also have joint ventured development of a major regional, retail shopping center. Mansour Developments has also acquired other potential major shopping center sites that were then sold to other developers.

George Mansour retired in 1987 and Mansour Developments is now owned and operated by Gerald Mansour, Sr. and his son Gerald G. The companies are presently involved in the development of a 250 home residential community, are principals in a start up high tech company, are planning for future development of a 400-unit manufactured housing community on 80 acres and are investing in several Florida properties. Gerald Mansour, Sr. is still active as advisor on a daily basis and enjoys the challenges involved in successfully developing business opportunities.
